Pamella was born in Edinburgh to a Scottish mother and Malaysian Chinese father; she grew up in Malaysia and returned to the UK at the age of 18 to attend university. Pamella graduated in 2004 from the University of Glamorgan with a first class (hons) degree in BSc Chiropractic.
Following her pre-registration training year Pamella then obtained her Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) in 2006. Since graduating Pamella gained experience working in a number of clinics in Scotland including Inverness, Stornoway, Edinburgh, Fife and the Borders. Pamella set up Borders Chiropractic in 2006 and then in 2008 took over co-ownership of City Chiropractic (www.edinburghcitychiropractic.co.uk) in Edinburgh. Pamella now splits her time between the 2 clinics.
Pamella has always enjoyed sport, this is evident in both her working and personal life. She represented her school at a number of different sporting activities and also represented Univeristy of Glamorgan in Karate, winning the Welsh Universities women’s senior belt sparring competition in 2002. She has also taken part in a variety of Charity sporting events such as the 5K swimathon for Marie Curie, the Highland Cross 50 mile duathlon for Highland Hospice, the Edinburgh Marathon for MS centre Lothian and most recently Tour o the Borders for Macmillan Cancer Care. She is also a keen triathlete. Her personal interest in these areas led her to complete a post graduate qualification in Sports Science Chiropractic (ICSSD) as well as attend several CPD courses covering sports injuries and treatment tools such as kinesiotaping.
In addition to sports injuries, Pamella also has a particular interest in Acupuncture, possibly stemming from her Chinese background. Since 2004 Pamella has attended numerous courses in dry needling and Western/Medical acupuncture. IN 2014 Pamella also completed a MSc in Western/Medical Acupuncture and frequently uses acupuncture in conjunction with Chiropractic treatment as well as a standalone treatment.
Other Continual Professional Development (CPD) courses that Pamella has attended include practical podiatric mechanics, Neuoro-Impulse Protocol (NIP) and Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT).
Pamella is General Chiropractic Council (GCC) Registered, and is a member of the British Chiropractic Association (BCA) and British Chiropractic Sports Council (BCSC). Pamella is also an accredited member of the British Medical Acupuncture society (BMAS). Pamella is AXA PPP and BUPA recognised.
